Situé à environ 1 Km de la commune de Pierre-Châtel et à plus de 930 mètres d'altitude, ce lac de taille modeste et de forme presque circulaire est le moins profond des lacs matheysins. Toute navigation y est interdite (ni planche à voile, ni pédalos…), mais la baignade est autorisée, bien que non surveillée. Ses berges laissées à l’état quasi-naturel attirent par beau temps de nombreux pêcheurs et promeneurs et sont au mois de juillet le théâtre d’une fête champêtre très fréquentée.
